LED Throwies have been developed by Eyebeam R+D Open Lab within the Graffiti Research Lab. Consisting of an LED attached to a battery and a magnet, the throwie can be attached to any magnetic surface. The simplicity of the design is great and full instructions ( including suppliers ) are given on the website. The environmental impact is less viable though with potentially hundreds of batteries being left out around the city. Many people have commented on this on the website. I have been thinking about using magnets for a while now ( in a different way ) so it is interesting to come across this project.
There is a video here which reveals just how busy the LED throwie makers at Graffiti Research Lab have been: http://www.graffitiresearchlab.com/
and step-by-step instructions for making your very own LED Throwie here…
